MPL PH: Team Liquid stretches streak to five, hands ONIC third straight defeat

Team Liquid PH extended their dominant run with a commanding 2-0 sweep of defending champion ONIC Philippines in Week 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City on Saturday.

The victory pushed TLPH to a perfect 5-0 record, keeping them atop the standings, while ONIC (1-3) absorbed their third loss to remain in fifth place.

Although TLPH coach Rodel “Ar Sy” B.Cruz remains critical of his team’s errors in the series, he was quick to laud his wards for continuously improving as the season progressed.

“May mga errors pa rin kami na nagagawa pa rin namin. Ang pinakamaganda dun is mas nag-improve sila today. Mas buo yung chemistry nila today,” he expressed.

“Siguro kung first day yung laban namin, baka hindi kami manalo sa kanila eh. Pero since may mga previous na rin silang nalaro the last two weeks, mas napag-aralan namin sila. Mas napaghandaan namin sila,” he further added on why they were able to take down the defending champions.

Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz (Jawhead) stole the spotlight in Game 1, as his precise Ejector pick-offs paved the way for TLPH’s dominant performance. He posted a 0-1-7 KDA to earn MVP honors in the opener.

In Game 2, TLPH executed their signature diversion play to dismantle ONIC Philippines’ backline midway through the 15th minute, sealing the sweep.

Alston “Sanji” Pabico (Lou Yi) bagged the Game MVP plum courtesy of his genius game-winning play.

TLPH will look to extend their winning streak to six when they face TNC Pro Team on Friday, March 21.
