Assists king in the making? KarlTzy edges closer to MPL PH’s all-time best

Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno and Team Liquid PH extended their winning streak in MPL Philippines Season 15, edging out a determined TNC Pro Team with a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

Following their Game 1 win — where KarlTzy posted a 3/5/9 KDA on Alpha — the “Young GOAT” surpassed Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna on MPL PH’s all-time assists leaderboard, moving up to second place behind Kyle Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel.

In an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times, KarlTzy admitted that he doesn’t focus too much on his assist rankings but still took pride in the milestone.

Pero yun nga, sobrang dami ko ng assists kaya nakakatuwa,” the 20-year-old jungler said.

This achievement adds yet another record to KarlTzy’s decorated career in MPL Philippines — a journey that took off when he transferred to Bren Esports from SGD Omega in January 2020, joining his idol Pheww and fellow legend Allan “Lusty” Castromayor Jr.

With Bren, KarlTzy not only secured his first MPL title but also claimed his first M-Series World Championship, defeating Myanmar’s Burmese Ghouls in a grueling seven-game series. He was named MVP in both tournaments.

After three seasons with Bren, KarlTzy made the move to ECHO in late 2021, embracing a veteran role within the team’s young core.

There, he captured his second world title as the Orcas swept Blacklist International in four games to claim the M4 World Championship in 2023.

Throughout his career, KarlTzy has adapted to META shifts and roster changes, yet he has remained a dominant force in the jungle role.

In a professional scene where many players fade after just a few peak seasons, KarlTzy believes that mindset and resilience have been key to his sustained success.

He credits his family and girlfriend as his primary sources of motivation, keeping him driven to compete at the highest level in MLBB.

As for what’s missing from his resume, KarlTzy, like his idol Pheww, has his eyes set on one more prestigious title — MSC.
