Blackwater will only look into Desiderio-Uvero case if player consents

Blackwater and its mother company Ever Bilena will not conduct their own inquiry regarding the allegations of domestic violence raised on one of its players Paul Desiderio by ex-fiancee Agatha Uvero.

In a statement released on social media, the team said that it will only look into the matter if Desiderio gives his consent to them.

“If the allegations were true and the concerned player consents, then we will look into it and possibly come out with our position,” read the team’s statement.

Uvero went to social media on Wednesday to share what she allegedly went through with Desiderio.

In a detailed account, the daughter of Nowhere to go but UP chairman Atty. Agaton Uvero said that she was hit multiple times by Desiderio on several occasions.

Desiderio, who has been with Blackwater since 2018, is currently sidelined due to a torn ACL.

Blackwater is taking a wait-and-see approach to the matter but is stiff in its stance that it is against any form of abuse against women and children.

“We respect the personal life and privacy of our players unless they seek our help and assistance. We reserve the right to comment on any social media posts especially if they are unverified,” the statement continued.

“Definitely, we abhor any and all forms of violence against women and children. Women and children deserve nothing less of our love and respect.”

Violence against Women and their Children (VAWC) chooses no time or place. If you are, or if you personally know someone being abused, don’t hesitate to seek help to stop the abuse.
