Resurgent Binan Tatak Gel battered Marikina, 103-73, on Monday to extend its climb in the MPBL 2026 Season at the One Arena in Cainta, Rizal.
Showing its firepower, Binan led by as many as 96-56 before coasting to its sixth straight win and a 9-3 slate in the round-robin elimination phase of the two-division, 28-team tournament.
Carlo Lastimosa paced Binan with 21 points and 2 rebounds in just 12 minutes and 37 seconds of action to clinch Best Player honors over Nic Cabanero, who finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, and Warren Bonifacio, who had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Binan’s hot shooting from deep proved decisive, as Lastimosa knocked down 3-of-4 from beyond the arc,
Bam Lopez went 1-of-1, Ronnie Alonte hit 1-of-2, and Ryan Sual added 1-of-2. The team finished 9-of-20 from three-point range for an efficient 45 percent, well ahead of Marikina’s 4-of-20 clip (20 percent).
The Shoemasters slipped to 4-8, with JR Alabanza posting 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Ed Daquioag added 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals in the losing effort.
Zamboanga SiKat continued its recovery with a 102-92 victory over Imus in the second game.
Reggz Gabat delivered 25 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, as Zamboanga fended off Imus’ late rally that cut the deficit to 99-92 with 1:14 remaining.
Imus, however, failed to score the rest of the way as Zamboanga secured its third straight win for a 4-7 record.
Gabat also added 7 rebounds and 2 assists to edge Levi Hernandez, who had 24 points and 4 rebounds, and Pamboy Raymundo, who contributed 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, for Best Player recognition.
Forthsky Padrigao tallied 9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals as well for Zamboanga.
The Yangkees suffered their seventh straight loss and fell to 2-9, despite strong performances from Joseph Mark Marquez (22 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals) and Jordan Rios (21 points, 9 rebounds).
Pasig City found its rhythm midway through the first quarter and maintained control to defeat Bacolod, 96-84, in the opening game.
Locked in a 58-all deadlock, Pasig broke away behind back-to-back triples from John Felix Corpuz and Jerome Garcia, followed by seven straight points from Michael Lambino to take a 71-64 lead after three quarters.
Warlo Batac then sparked an 11-2 run to open the fourth quarter, pushing Pasig further ahead at 82-66 with 7:20 remaining.
The win snapped Pasig’s two-game skid as it improved to 6-3.
Lambino, a standout from the University of Luzon Golden Tigers, finished with 13 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 from the line to earn Best Player honors over Garcia (17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), Jacob Galicia (17 points, 6 rebounds), and Batac (15 points, 7 rebounds).
Galicia and Corpuz combined for 16 first-half points as Pasig took a 47-43 lead despite Ram Mesqueriola’s 12 points for Bacolod.
Bacolod dropped to 3-10 despite Mesqueriola’s 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists, Ian Melencio’s 16 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds, Kurt Lactaotao’s 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Khenth Guiab’s 11 points and 5 rebounds.
The MPBL returns to the One Arena in Cainta on Tuesday, featuring Gensan against Manila at 4 p.m., Bulacan versus Negros at 6 p.m., and Ilagan Isabela taking on Mindoro.
