After her first-ever top 10 finish in the LPGA tour, Bianca Pagdanganan is ready for more.
The tour rookie powered her way through the second round of the 2020 LPGA Drive On Championship-Reynolds Lake Oconee with a huge 5-under 67 to catapult herself to a share of second spot with 9-under 135 total, Saturday morning (Manila time) in Greensboro, Georgia.
Pagdanganan started well after taking a 4-under 68 in the opening round, which is good for tied-6th spot. She was just three strokes more than leaders and Americans Danielle Kang and Jennifer Song.
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist the picked up from where she left off. She registered three birdies, including back-to-back ones in the 5th and 6th holes for a 6-under heading into the back nine.
Pagdanganan stuck with Thailand’s Ariya Jatanugarn and the season points leader Kang in second place. The other Southeast Asian then slipped with a double bogey in the 11th hole to pave way for the Filipina and the American.
The 22-year-old alumna of University of Arizona needed a birdie to force a tie with Kang, and did just that, duplicating her previous round’s birdie at the final hole for the final score for the round at 9-under 135.
With Ally McDonald of the USA just a stroke adrift Kang and Pagdanganan, the Filipina looks to inch closer to a breakthrough LPGA title when the third round takes place Saturday afternoon.
