In a wild third round of the 2020 LPGA Drive On Championship – Reynolds, Bianca Pagdanganan saw herself still in second, but now alone.
The tour rookie just kept her composure and pulled off a decent 3-under 69 and maintained her runner-up standing at the end of the third round of the tournament in Greensboro, Georgia, Sunday morning (Manila time).
Pagdanganan actually tasted the lead once, after a birdie in the second hole put her to 10-under in total. A bogey at the following hole and another one in the fifth pushed her back, but two birdies in the seventh and ninth got her back to 10-under and in third place.
Tour points leader Danielle Kang and round-two leader Ally McDonald, both from the USA, also managed to get in front of the pack as the Filipina settled for pars across the back nine.
Pagdanganan ended the round with a flourish as she tackled the par-3 17th hole in three shots and registered her third straight birdie in the final hole. The 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist is now at 12-under 204.
McDonald emerged from the scramble for the top spot, still one stroke less than the 22-year-old rookie, with 13-under 205.
Pagdanganan looks to regain her performances in the first two rounds and try to clinch the breakthrough LPGA title as the tournament draws to a close on Sunday afternoon in Georgia.
