De La Salle University head coach Ramil De Jesus reached another milestone in his storied career on Saturday night.
De Jesus recorded his 300th career win in the UAAP after the Lady Spikers swept Adamson University, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18, to open their title-retention bid in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
“Di ko naman nabibilang yun pero in 27 years sa La Salle, siguro baka umabot na nga don. Happy kasi umabot ng ganun karami yung panalo na hindi ko naman naisip na makakarating sa ganun,” said De Jesus during the post-game press conference.
The 12-time UAAP champion coach expressed that he’s grateful to have reached such a feat – but insisted that he considers it only as a bonus.
After all, his goal as a coach has always been to help his players perform at their best on and off the volleyball court.
Hhindi na yung kung umabot yung ganung panalo,” he said about his legacy.
When asked how he wants his legacy to be remembered by volleyball fans, the seasoned mentor said he wants to be remembered as a coach who instilled discipline and good values in his players.
Kahit saang anggulo mo pakawalan, inside or outside the court, dala-dala nila yun,” he continued.
