Kai Sotto’s two-month sojourn in the B.League ended last May 15 at the hands of Chiba.
Though Hiroshima was able to extend the quarterfinals series to three games, the Jets’ firepower proved to be too much, being dealt a 96-91 loss to see their campaign end.
Sotto ended his first stint in the B.League with averages of 9.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 21 games played.
However, the 7-foot-3 Filipino big man saw his numbers dip in the playoffs, averaging a paltry 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in a total of just 37 minutes of play.
As his B.League stint ends, what’s next for Kai Sotto?
Summer League
As reported by Tiebreaker Times last February, the B.League is just a pitstop for Sotto after the National Basketball League-Australia season ended last February.
According to Spin.ph’s Homer Sayson, Sotto will head to Los Angeles next week to begin his workouts in preparation for the NBA Summer League.
This means that Sotto will not be able to join Gilas Men’s preps for the 2023 FIBA World Cup in August.
The NBA Summer League will take place from July 7 to 17 in Las Vegas. It is only after that that Sotto can join the national team.
Last Pinoys Standing
Only two Filipino players are left in the B.League playoffs.
Carl Tamayo and Ryukyu completed a two-game sweep of Ray Parks and Nagoya in the quarters and will now face Yokohama in the semis.
Tamayo was a DNP in both games while Parks remained out due to injury.
Meanwhile, in B2, Jordan Heading and Nagasaki will take on Saga in the Finals.
