Alyssa Valdez, Mika Reyes, Jia Morado, Jaja Santiago headline 14-woman squad for Asian Games

The Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Incorporated announced their 14-woman squad for the Asian Games, Thursday evening on SportsCenter Philippines.

F2 Logistics’ Aby Maraño is the team captain.

“Masaya ako na nagkaroon ako ng ganitong opportunity,” said the PSL ambassador. “Ito yung dream ko nung bata pa ako. Humingi lang ako ng tinapay, burger pa yung nakuha ko.”

Joining her are fellow Cargo Movers Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, Cha Cruz, Dawn Macandili, and Kim Fajardo.

Petron’s Mika Reyes and Ces Molina, Foton’s Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Creamline’s Jia Morado and Alyssa Valdez round out the 12-woman squad.

Setter Rhea Dimaculangan and libero Denden Lazaro made the team as reserves.

Not making the final cut were Myla Pablo, Mylene Paat, CJ Rosario, MJ Phillips, Rebecca Rivero, and Maika Ortiz.

The squad began training last week at the Arellano University Gym. They will continue training thrice-a-week until the competition late in August.

Before this, the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team will join the 2018 PSL Invitational Cup as a guest team. The tournament will begin on June 23 at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Valdez and Morado are still clarifying things with their mother team Creamline regarding playing for the PSL.
