Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. acting president Peter Cayco has said, through reports late Sunday evening, that the Women’s Volleyball National Team will likely see action in local commercial leagues in preparation for international tournaments.
It was announced early on Sunday evening that national team will be a guest squad in the upcoming Philippine Superliga Invitational Cup.
Cayco then told ABS-CBN Sports and Action that he is also looking into getting the national team to see action in an upcoming Premier Volleyball League conference.
“Ako ang lumapit sa PSL if pwede nila ma-accommodate ang national team, isali nila sa Invitational Conference parang guest team,” said Cayco through ABS-CBN Sports.
“Pumayag naman sila sa set up na guest team kami (national team) and hindi kasama sa win-loss records ng teams. Parang tune up lang nila kami, no bearing.
“Sa PVL naman, hindi ko na inilapit sa kanila kasi ayaw ko makagulo kasi quarters na sila and going to semis na. Nasa importanteng stage na sila ng liga nila so ayaw ko naman makagulo,” he closed.
The national team, which will have F2 Logistics middle blocker Aby Maraño as team captain, will announce the pool in the upcoming days. From that pool, 14 players form the final roster for the Asian Games.
