Alyssa Valdez bracing for LDR with Kiefer Ravena

When Kiefer Ravena and Alyssa Valdez were just starting off as a couple, they figured in a long-distance relationship.

Valdez played for Thailand’s 3BB Nakornnont back in 2016. She later served as an import for Chinese-Taipei’s Attack Line.

Now, it seems like it could be the other way around as Ravena will possibly play in the B.League for Shiga.

And the 27-year-old Valdez is already bracing herself for the possibility of it.

“It would be challenging but I would like to say na I fully support Kiefer sa mga dreams niya at gusto niyang gawin, lalo na pagdating sa career niya,” Valdez told Boy Abunda’s The Interviewer.

Ravena still needs to process plenty of paperwork in order for him to gain clearance from the PBA and NLEX to play in the B.League.

Meanwhile, Valdez is not only readying herself for that possibility. She is also challenging herself to play abroad anew.

“It’s hard to find a person as competitive or more competitive than you not just in sport, but in life in general. That is one of the foundations of our relationship, which is challenging each other,” said Ravena about their relationship.

“I probably challenged her more than she challenged me.”

If an opportunity arises, the seven-time V-League Most Valuable Player — who is Creamline’s ace spiker — will surely take it. But if not, she plans to visit not just Kiefer in Japan, but also Thirdy.

“Hopefully, matapos na ‘yung pandemic para if ever matuloy, we can just visit,” quipped Valdez. She also plans to bring the Ravena family and Abunda with her.

“Communication is key naman in any relationship. Mapag-uusapan naman to make it work.”

Mia's problem is she likes too many things. Sometimes she's an engineer, sometimes an athlete, sometimes an artist, sometimes a faux dog whisperer, sometimes an otaku, often a Kobe Bryant and Roger Federer fangirl but she most definitely is a sports enthusiast and a strong advocate of the women's game.
