Aldin Ayo is not just preparing for Converge’s upcoming PBA Season 48 campaign but is also preparing for his future.
The decorated college head coach will miss Converge’s last PBA on Tour game against Northport on Friday evening as he is in Sorsogon for a seminar and training for farmers.
A little-known fact about Ayo is that his beloved mother is one of the biggest seed growers in Region V.
“I am currently undergoing training on inbred rice seed production for seed growers by the BPI (Bureau of Plant Industry) under the RCEF (Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund) program, which is under the Department of Agriculture,” Ayo shared.
“This training is in preparation for taking over the operations of our family business, which is headed by my mother. She is the pioneer and the primary seed grower in the province of Sorsogon and the main supplier of rice seeds in the Bicol region.”
Besides getting to learn the intricacies of the industry, Ayo also gave the farmers in Sorsogon assistance.
The week-long seminar definitely was an eye-opener for Ayo in the current state of the industry.
“I am hopeful for increased government support for rice farmers, including more training programs and initiatives,” he said.
Franco Atienza will serve as Converge’s head coach on Friday.
