Alas Women brings in Julia Coronel for SEAG

Alas Pilipinas Women will field Julia Coronel in place of Alleiah Malaluan for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games.

The national team announced the adjustment through its social media accounts, posting a photo of the delegation en route to Thailand with Coronel included in the lineup. Malaluan, however, was not present in the image.

Nations can still change lineups before the technical meeting as long as the athlete is registered in the entry of names submitted last September.

Coronel, a 5-foot-9 setter from Galeries Tower in the PVL, has consistently served as a secondary playmaker behind Jia De Guzman during recent national team windows.

Mars Alba remains in the group as the third setter.

Alyssa Solomon (Osaka Marvelous) leads a strong attacking cast that also features Angel Canino of La Salle, Capital1’s Bella Belen, Adamson standout Shaina Nitura, Cignal’s Vanie Gandler, and free agent Eya Laure.

Choco Mucho’s Maddie Madayag reinforces the middle along with PLDT’s Dell Palomata and La Salle’s Amie Provido, forming a reliable trio at the net.

Defensive duties will be handled by Cignal’s Dawn Catindig and Akari’s Justine Jazareno, who will anchor the rotation as liberos.

Alas Pilipinas Women open their SEA Games campaign against Thailand on December 11, followed by Singapore on December 12 at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok.
