Lawrence Domingo joined Alab Pilipinas as an unknown commodity. He came out as one of the brightest prospects in Philippine basketball.
Besides Alab skipper Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and, later on, Kiefer Ravena, Lawrence Domingo was one of the team’s most consistent players. He took the role of being the team’s rock, gladly doing the dirty work for the team while providing big buckets as well.
In his maiden season in the ABL, the Filipino-American utility forward posted norms of 9.48 points and 6.62 rebounds in 22:07 minutes of game time. However, Alab’s combined efforts ended in naught last Friday as they were swept by the Singapore Slingers in the best-of-three semifinals.
Despite this, Domingo shared that he enjoyed every minute of playing in front of his compatriots and he plans on spending the off-season to get stronger.
“As far as right now goes, I’ll be going back to the States in a few weeks to visit family and start my summer workouts with a trainer back home,” the 24-year-old said.
However, the product of Eastern New Mexico University has yet to know whether he can enlist for the 2016 PBA D-League draft as his documents authenticating that he is a Filipino have yet to be finished.
“Well, I need to talk to my agent Charlie Dy and see what the next move is,” the high-flying forward furthered. “I still need to finish some paperwork stuff before I can make my way into the PBA which is something that I want to do
And he is not closing his door on another stint with Alab Pilipinas, “Now If it’s still in the works at the end of this summer, hopefully I’ll be back for another season with Alab.”
The only thing that is certain for Domingo is that he will return to his home country.
“Either way I’m coming back here!,” he closed.
