Wyatt’s clutch three lifts Alab past Formosa for fourth straight win


Khalif Wyatt continued to be the man in the clutch for San Miguel Alab Pilipinas, carrying the Philippine-side to a close 100-99 win over the Formosa Dreamers in the 10th season of the ABL, Sunday at Changhua Stadium.

Down by two, 97-99, with 27 seconds left, Jason Brickman was able to find the 6-foot-4 combo guard, who calmly drained a triple for the go-ahead basket.

Formosa had a couple of chances to steal the game but Anthony Tucker muffed two triples while a desperation bucket by Jerran Young also missed sealing the road win for Alab.

Wyatt finished the game with 17 points on three triples to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Alab racked up their fourth straight win after dropping their opener while snapping Formosa’s two-game winning streak. The Dreamers fell to 2-4.

Formosa led by as much as 17 points in the second quarter, 49-32, before Alab stepped up and led by as much as eight points, 95-87, with 2:41 left in the game.

Leading the comeback were Sam Deguara, who had 20 points and nine rebounds, and Nick King, who added 19 markers, five assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

Tucker though took charge, going on a personal 12-2 run — all on triples — to give Formosa a 99-97 lead with 1:18 remaining.

Tucker had a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists while Jordan Tolbert led Formosa with 25 points and nine rebounds.

The locals also stepped up for Alab with Brickman tallying 12 points and 12 assists while Lawrence Domingo added 10 points and seven boards in off the bench duties.

Alab will have a long break before facing the Wolf Warriors on January 5, 2020.
