Five Falcons from Adamson University proved that despite being athletes, they can also excel as students.
Jasmine Remolino, who competed in the shot put event of UAAP Season 85, not only earned a degree in exercise and sports at Adamson but also graduated as the batch summa cum laude.
And the pandemic did not stop her from finishing her studies.
During the height of the lockdowns in the country, Remolino, a native of Basco, Batanes, opted to stay inside Adamson’s San Marcelino campus to focus on her studies.
Of course, she battled homesickness inside the school but she overcame it.
Last season, she finished in fourth place in her event with a throw of 11.55m.
Also graduating with Latin honors are shuttler Melody Ampusta (magna cum laude), footballers Zaccheus Suarez and John Laniel Tirado (magna cum laude), and cager Jed Colonia (cum laude).
Ampusta, Suarez, and Colinia finished with degrees in accountancy while Tirado graduated with a degree in exercise and sports.
“Here at Adamson University, we not only hope to mold athletes who could one day represent our national team but also professionals who can contribute to society,” said UAAP Season 85 president and Adamson athletic director Fr. Aldrin Suan, CM.
