Ever since Donald Tankoua went down with an ACL injury, 20 year old big man Benedict Adamos has filled-up the role as San Beda College’s defensive anchor. After spending the majority of the season on the bench, he did not let this opportunity of shining on the hard court slip away.
Nag-extra work ako para matumbasan yung ginagawa niya sa team,” the seventh leading shot block, with 1.5 blocks per game, said.
The 22 year old Cameroonian has done his fair share to help in the development of his junior according to Adamos.
“Siya nagpapalakas ng loob ko. Ngayon every game nag-susupport siya. Kinakausap niya ako kapag timeout,” he shared.
The fruits of his labor was showcased Tuesday afternoon as the 6’7″ transferee from the Techonological Institute of the Philippines played his best game of the season during the Red Lions’ playoff game for the top seed against the Arellano Chiefs.
The Albay-native knocked down jumper after jumper to the tune off 14 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting clip to go along with six rebounds and four blocks.
After helping San Beda achieve its 11th straight season of topping the elimination round, the self-confessed “mama’s boy” shared that his mother gives him the strength to grind it out with the big boys of the Grand Old League.
Looking forward to the challenge of facing Bright Akhuetie in the semifinals, it will be business as usual for Adamos and the Red Lions.
“As a pinoy, nararamdaman kong mas lalo akong lumalaban kasi foreigners nga kalaban ko.”
