The rich get richer as Ceres-Negros went on a shopping spree
Ceres-Negros FC announced its new acquisitions for their upcoming campaign in the 2017 AFC Cup and the Philippine Football League season, Tuesday in Bacolod City.
Azkals goalkeeper Roland Müller was officially presented by the team during the event. Also confirmed was the signing of Iain Ramsay, who is making his debut in the local club scene.
The Busmen were also able to secure the transfers of 32-year-old defender Simone Rota (from Stallion FC), 26-year-old midfielder Jason de Jong (from Loyola-Meralco FC), and 22-year-old midfielder OJ Porteria (from Kaya FC) — all of whom have either played or are still part of the Philippine Azkals. Defenders Junior Munoz (from Kaya FC) and Joshua Grommen were also signed to beef up the squad.
Foreign players Kota Kawase (from Austrian Division II team Wollongong Wolves), Manuel Lopez (from Spain’s Segunda Division B’s Caudal Deportivo), and Fernando Ortega (from FC Cartagena) are all set to reinforce Ceres.
Ceres-Negros’ 2017 AFC Cup Group G campaign is set to begin on April 19 when they face Vietnamese club team Ha Noi FC. Singaporean club Tampine Rovers FC and Malaysian club Felda United round up the group.
Last year, Ceres was able to reach the round of 16 before bowing out to South China A.A. in extra time.
