Go for Gold loads up backcourt, taps Kent Salado

After signing National University stalwarts J-Jay Alejandro and Matt Salem, debuting PBA D-League franchise Go for Gold Scratchers continued their signing spree by getting Arellano University’s ace guard Kent Salado for the conference.

The news was confirmed by Go for Gold head coach Charles Tiu and Chief head coach Jerry Codinera.

Codinera is hoping that the experience gained by the 22-year-old will carry over in his senior year for Arellano next season.

However, Salado saw an abrupt end to his NCAA Season 93 campaign as he tore his right medial cruciate ligament last October 10, 2017.

The Cagayan de Oro-native averaged 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.3 steals for the season.

Salado will carry with him a boatload of experience to share to the College of Saint Benilde-backed squad. The dynamic guard previously played for the Racal Tile Masters.

Last June 9, Salado became only the third player in league history to post a triple-double. He had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists during Racal’s 140-90 rout of Zark’s Burger.

With Arellano’s High Chief, the two NU stars, and Jerwin Gaco, expectations will be high for Go-for-Gold in the upcoming 2018 Aspirants’ Cup.
