University of Santo Tomas dominated the Asiabasket-Anta Kai 3×3 tournament last Saturday at Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall.
The Growling Tigers, composed of Amiel Acido, Gelo Crisostomo, Mur Alao, and Lorenzo Bangco, capped their sensational run with a 20-18 victory over the San Beda Red Lions to claim the ₱100,000 prize.
Acido was named MVP of the tournament, which served as part of UST’s buildup to the UAAP Season 88 3×3 basketball tournament in May.
UST enjoyed a commanding run in pool play, defeating Lyceum, 21-19, and UE, 21-8. In the semifinals, the Growling Tigers edged Saint Benilde, 20-18, to secure their spot in the final.
San Beda, featuring Zedjay Etulle, Lawrence Hawkins, JE Lopez, and Kyle Jamora, advanced to the championship game by defeating Perpetual, 19-15, in the other semifinal bracket.
Other participating teams included EAC, Ateneo, National University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Adamson, and the University of the Philippines.
Joining Acido in the Mythical Three were Lopez and Ernest Daja of Saint Benilde.

Its colorway reflects this concept: violet represents the highest frequency in the light spectrum, providing energy and inspiration; pink conveys physical recovery and mental sharpness; metallic gold is inspired by the tuning fork, a sound that awakens energy and balance.
