ZUS Coffee strengthens roster with Jovelyn Gonzaga

Jovelyn Gonzaga has found a new home.

The 32-year-old opposite spiker has officially joined the youth-laden ZUS Coffee for the upcoming 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, the team announced on Tuesday.

Bringing with her a wealth of experience and a decorated career, Gonzaga is poised to be a game-changer for the young squad.

Gonzaga’s illustrious career has seen her amass numerous accolades across various volleyball tournaments.

She was named the Most Valuable Player and Best Attacker in the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 Open Conference, a recognition that cemented her as one of the league’s most dominant forces. She followed this up with the Finals MVP in the 11th Season Open Conference and the Best Attacker award in the 11th Season Reinforced Open Conference.

Her success continued into the 12th season of Shakey’s V-League, where she was twice named Best Opposite Spiker—once in the Open Conference and again in the Collegiate Conference. That same season, she earned another MVP award in the Reinforced Open Conference, along with the title of Best Opposite Spiker, showing her consistent excellence on both offense and defense.

Her achievements extended beyond the V-League. In the 2016 Philippine Super Liga, Gonzaga was named the Most Valuable Player of the Invitational Conference and was hailed as the Best Opposite Spiker in both the All-Filipino and Grand Prix tournaments.

She added another MVP award in the 2017 Philippine Super Liga Invitational, further solidifying her legacy as one of the best players in the country.

With this impressive résumé, Gonzaga is now ready to team up with standout rookie Thea Gagate, as they look to elevate the Thunderbelles to new heights, following a winless campaign in the previous Reinforced Conference.

For Gonzaga, this new chapter is both exciting and full of promise, especially as she looks forward to mentoring her younger teammates like Cloanne Mondonedo, Gayle Pascual, Michelle Gamit, and Ypril Tapia.

Her wealth of experience, combined with the energy of her new teammates, is setting the stage for a thrilling PVL season ahead.
