After rain forced the tournament to get shortened, Yuka Saso saw her momentum stop as well.
The two-time season champion settled for joint 12th with a 1-under 143 in the abbreviated Stanley Ladies Golf Tournament at the Tomei Country Club in Shizuoka, Japan, Sunday afternoon.
Saso came into the day with a 3-over 75 and in joint 31st, the Filipina standout faltered in the opening hole by starting the round with a bogey.
From there, the 19-year-old pro picked it up and registered two birdies in the fourth and seventh holes. A huge eagle in the third powered Saso into a 3-under 33 to end the front nine.
Three more birdies to start the back nine put the money leader into a position to take the first, but bogeys in the 16th and 18th holes pushed her down and out of title contention.
Mone Inami bagged the win in a tournament which saw golfers struggled to cope up with the weather. The Japanese ended just four strokes adrift Saso to take her first title of the season and the 13.5-million yen prize.
Saso on her part added Y 1,027,500 to her winnings with such performance, keeping her lead at the JPLGA 2020 money board.
