Petro Gazz reinforcement Wilma Salas played inspired volleyball in Game Two of the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference finals on Saturday evening.
And she attributed her stellar performance with her Best Import award – a plum that she received and hoisted minutes prior to Game Two.
“I feel happy. I feel comforted because this is a very big award,” Salas beamed.
“Inside, I feel very good and very strong because of this.”
The Cuban import carried the load for the Angels, hammering 23 points – all but one coming from attacks – on a 52-percent attack efficiency.
Though she dealt heavy damage on offense, she did not limit herself in scoring alone. With her lanky 6-foot-2 frame, she still protected the floor with 13 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions.
Moreover, she anchored the Angels in their four-set triumph over the reigning champion Creamline that forced a winner-take-all Game Three.
Still, despite her triple-double performance, Salas believes that she could still improve her play by focusing more on her “timing”.
Now that Game Three is less than a day away, the hard-hitting spiker is ready to leave it all on the court.
As she put it, “The last game, I’ll put all for the win tomorrow. I’ll put all out on the court.”
