Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has been added to Jordan’s expanded roster for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
In an announcement on Wednesday, the Falcons included the TNT import in the 17-man pool, indicating his potential role as their reinforcement for the festivities scheduled from August 25 to September 10 across the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.
The Jordan Basketball Federation (JBF) revealed last July that it was in the process of granting Hollis-Jefferson citizenship to enable him to join the team as a naturalized player.
However, it remains uncertain if this process can be completed in time, given that the World Cup is just eight days away.
Expected to replace resident reinforcement Dar Tucker, at least for this global tournament, the 28-year-old wing player joins a roster led by Zaid Abbas, a long-standing cornerstone of the program who could potentially participate in his third World Cup.
Also part of the pool are star guard Freddy Ibrahim, key big man Ahmad Al-Dwairi, Ahmad Alhamarsheh, Mohammad Hussein, Amin Abu Hawwas, Sami Bzai, Malek Kanaan, Yousef Abuwazaneh, Hashem Abbas, and Ashraf Alhendi — all of whom were part of the Jordanian team that reached the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 semifinals in Jakarta.
Zane Alnajdawi, Mahmoud Hazaymeh, Fadi Qarmash, Ahmad Hammouri, and Emir Eid complete the roster under the guidance of Coach Wesam Al Sous.
Jordan has been placed in Group C alongside the redemption-focused United States, European contender Greece, and New Zealand.
Group C, along with Groups A, B, and D, will compete in games held in Manila. Matches for Groups C and D will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
