V.League: Espejo plays limited minutes as Tokyo falters vs Toray


FC Tokyo ran out of gas against league leader Toray, 25-17, 27-29, 20-25, 27-29, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Sunday at the Sumida City Gymnasium.

Marck Espejo was just inserted for a very limited time in the fourth set and ended up scoreless. Yesterday, he was not fielded at all.

Krisztián Pádár beasted anew for the Arrows with 33 points on 31 attacks and two blocks while doing it at a high rate of 52.5 percent.

Shoma Tomita added 20 points while Atsushi Nishimoto had 10 points in the victory.

Toray raised its win-loss standings to 22-10 atop every squad in the 10-team league.

Jonas Kvalen led the fight for FC Tokyo with 25 points founded on 22 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace.

Hayata Yanagimachi chalked up 18 points while Ayato Kuroda collected 13 points of his own.

FC Tokyo absorbed its third-straight defeat and sank to 8-19 at eighth place.

Espejo and FC Tokyo will try to bounce back on Saturday when they meet cellar-dweller VC Nagano, 1 pm, at the Swan Dome in Okaya.
