Adamson University overcame a slow start to take down College of St. Benilde in four sets, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-16, in the knockout semifinals of the 2022 V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge, Sunday at the Paco Arena.
The Lady Falcons set up a best-of-three finals clash against Ateneo de Manila University on November 27, Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Kate Santiago took charge with 16 points on 13 attacks, two service aces, and a block while Ayesha Juegos provided the spark off the bench with 13 markers.
Lucille Almonte had 11 points along with 19 excellent receptions and nine excellent digs while Lorene Toring added two blocks for 10 points.
“Slow start nung first set pero ganun talaga. Memorize kasi nilang pareho yung isa’t isa kasi lagi silang magkalaro. So ganun talaga, kapag nagkakabasahan, nagma-matter na lang kung sino yung may gusto,” said Adamson assistant coach Rald Ricafort.
Ricafort called the shots for the Lady Falcons in lieu of head coach Jerry Yee, who decided to sit the game out as he is also the head tactician of the Lady Blazers. His assistant Jay Chua coached Benilde.
Gayle Pascual paced the Lady Blazers with 16 points while team captain Mycah Go was held to just nine points in their first loss of the tournament.
Benilde takes on University of the Philippines in the bronze match, also on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
