UPIS’ Collin Dimaculangan stays with Fighting Maroons

Another Dimaculangan is set to enter the University Athletic Association of the Philippines’ collegiate division. But it won’t be at University of Santo Tomas.

Junior Maroons point guard Collin Dimaculangan, second cousin of decorated UST setters Rhea and Karl, has committed to University of the Philippines.

And the 6-foot floor general is grateful for the chance to stay at his second home.

“Really feels great, to be honest. Just going to the best school out there and having the opportunity to play for them is such an honor and a blessing,” he told Tiebreaker Times.

“Just really taking every opportunity as a blessing.”

Back in the UAAP Season 82 Boys’ Basketball Tournament, Dimaculangan averaged 8.67 points, 4.08 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest.

However, with the cancellation of UAAP Season 83, he, together with brothers Jordi Gomez de Liano, Ray Allen Torres, and Aldous Torcullas, could not run it back one last time.

This makes Dimaculangan hungrier to prove something once UAAP Season 84 rolls around as he joins Joel Cagulangan and Gerry Abadiano in the loaded one-position of the Fighting Maroons.

“Really looking forward to getting better and playing with the best players out there. We’ll just never know what happens next but I really believe in God’s plan and timing,” he said.

“Everyday is a challenge and just gotta fight for it.”
