UP clinches Interleague Play title with dominant win over Bangkok U


University of the Philippines clinched the 2024 Interleague Play title in dominant fashion, cruising past Bangkok University, 130-54, on Friday afternoon at Keelung Municipality Gymnasium in Taiwan.

The Fighting Maroons will enter their game against the Bank of Taiwan (3-3) with a perfect 6-0 record, having previously defeated Chinese-Taipei U22 (82-47), CTUSF (74-64), TPBL (84-45), Changhua BLL (85-69), and Taiwan Beer (72-65).

Seven Fighting Maroons scored in double figures, led by Dikachi Ududo, who recorded 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Gani Stevens also notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Reyland Torres and Denzil Walker contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Chicco Briones, Mark Belmonte, and Harold Alarcon each added 11 points in a victory where every Fighting Maroon scored at least six points.

Already asserting their dominance in the first half with a 63-32 lead, UP focused on closing out the game in the third quarter, holding Bangkok U to just five points and extending its lead to 93-37.

Suphakit Thitikhunrat and Santisuk Watngam were the only double-digit scorers for Bangkok, each contributing 12 points, as the team fell to 0-6.

Bangkok University 54 – Thitikhunrat 12,  Watngam 12, Cheung 9, Tantiwong 6, Kosanlavit 3, Derick 2, Kudan 2, Rongruang 2, Lin 0, Sebastine 0.
