Camille Clarin set the tone for National University’s dominance after the holiday break with an impressive performance in the UAAP Season 87 women’s basketball tournament.
Clarin’s efforts not only maintained the Lady Bulldogs’ unbeaten streak but also earned her the Collegiate Press Corps’ (CPC) UAAP Women’s Player of the Week honor, presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), for the week of November 3 to 10.
Her leadership has been essential as NU heads into the final stretch of the preliminary round.
The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 15.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals over the week, including a standout game in NU’s 76-70 win against archrival UST.
In that contest, Clarin posted 21 points—18 of them in the first half—along with seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and a block.
Unanimously chosen for the award, supported by Discovery Suites and World Balance as minor sponsors, Clarin edged out Ateneo’s Sarah Makanjuola, DLSU’s Kyla Sunga, and UST’s Tacky Tacatac.
“I take big responsibility in being the captain. I know a lot of these girls look up to me. Not necessarily to score but just to lead the team, to keep us level-headed the whole game. So, I take that responsibility very highly,” said Clarin.
“And I know that even if I’m struggling, they have my back, so I gotta make sure I do that for them as well.”
