NU overpowers NTNU, claims solo lead in BLIA Cup Pool B

National University unleashed a dominant second-quarter run to rout National Taiwan Normal University, 79-66, and seize sole possession of the top spot in Pool B of the 2026 BLIA Cup on Thursday at Kaohsiung Arena in Taiwan.

Trailing 14-16 after the opening quarter, the Lady Bulldogs turned the game around behind a blistering second-period performance.

Aloha Betanio ignited the surge by scoring all seven of her points during the quarter as NU erupted for 26 points on an efficient 10-of-16 shooting from the field while holding NTNU to just 11 points, transforming a two-point deficit into a commanding 40-27 halftime advantage.

The Lady Bulldogs never looked back, maintaining a comfortable double-digit cushion the rest of the way to hand NTNU its lone defeat of the pool stage.

Ann Pingol finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Tin Cayabyab led NU with 16 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

Bonie Solis also chipped in 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who will wrap up their elimination-round campaign against York University on Friday.

Chiang Tzujou paced National Taiwan Normal University with 15 points, while Wei Shihyua contributed 12 markers in the loss.
