Remy Palma sees her Best Middle Blocker award as a testament to the dedication and effort she has consistently invested in over the past few years.
“Ito binigay po sakin so sobrang masaya rin kasi alam ko naman behind doors nagtatrabaho talaga ako, nagwowork hard talaga ako,” said Palma.
Palma was named to the All-Filipino Conference Premier Team, along with teammate MJ Phillips (Best Middle Blocker), last Thursday, just moments after Petro Gazz suffered a heartbreaking loss to Creamline in Game Three of the finals.
They were joined by Creamline’s Jema Galanza (Best Outside Spiker), Michele Gumabao (Best Opposite Spiker), Tots Carlos (Best Outside Spiker, MVP), and Jia De Guzman (Best Setter), and PLDT’s Kath Arado (Best Setter).
Palma is well aware of the expectations that are about to come, but she said that she is ready for it and will use this award as motivation moving forward.
“Pero parang hindi pa rin naman natatapos diyan kasi malaking responsibilidad pa rin ‘yan dahil kumbaga meron ng nagiging basis yung mga tao para sa akin kasi may nakuha na akong award,” said the 5-foot-10 blocker.
“But still I won’t stop kasi okay nabigay siya sa akin. That doesn’t mean na okay na ako, na settled na ako kasi mas marami pang kailangan punuan doon sa mga naging lapses namin as a whole team.”
The 27-year-old product of Far Eastern University was limited to just eight points in the Angels’ 25-20, 20-25, 18-25, 25-15 loss to the Cool Smashers in Game Three.
“Siguro po yung award na ‘yan for me, it’s an extra blessing lang pero kasi wala naman po talaga [akong] ibang hinahangad kundi championship pa rin. I mean ako kasi, personally, gusto ko team player ako e. Hindi ako laging after sa individual awards, kapag ako nag-champion doon mas masaya ako,” Palma explained.
“So hindi pa rin ako makukuntento hanggat di pa rin nakukuha yung main goal which is the championship for the whole team.”
