Team Shine makes podium after escape of Team Sparkle

Team Shine averted a winless campaign, finishing as the second runner-up of the 2019 PSL Super Cup at the expense of Team Sparkle, 15-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 17-15, Friday night at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Coming off a pair of deflating losses to the Nationals and University of Tsukuba, the Karl Dimaculangan-mentored squad dumped its frustrations on Sparkle.

Shine fought its way back from a two-set deficit before wriggling past Sparkle in the cardiac decider.

MJ Phillips shone the brightest with 14 attacks and three kill blocks en route to 17 points. She capped off her stellar offensive performance with the match-clinching blow. She also had 11 excellent digs, posting a double-double performance.
