Tats Suzara, who was elected president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) in September, has achieved another milestone by being appointed Executive Vice President (EVP) of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
His appointment was announced during the FIVB’s 39th General Assembly and Elections held last week in Porto, Portugal.
“It’s a great distinction and honor to be named as executive vice president of the FIVB because it will give Philippine volleyball great opportunities ahead,” Suzara said.
Suzara will work under Fabio Azevedo of Brazil, who was elected as the new FIVB president during the assembly.
He emphasized the positive impact his new role will have on Philippine volleyball.
“Not only will our national teams benefit, but the entire Philippine volleyball community,” Suzara added.
“We are very thankful to the FIVB, former president Dr. Ary Graça, and new president Fabio Azevedo for trusting me as the new FIVB executive vice president.”
The four-year term as FIVB EVP adds to Suzara’s existing roles as AVC president and head of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).
Suzara was accompanied at the congress by PNVF Vice President Ricky Palou, Secretary-General Donaldo “Don” Caringal, and Director Tonyboy Liao.
During the event, Suzara presented a detailed proposal for the Philippines’ historic first-time hosting of the FIVB Men’s World Championship, set to take place from September 12 to 28 next year.
The presentation highlighted the country’s readiness to stage the global tournament and its potential to further elevate volleyball in the Philippines.
Suzara’s dual leadership in regional and global volleyball organizations marks a significant step forward for the sport in the Philippines, providing a platform for greater international collaboration and development.
