2025 FIVB World Men’s Championship

Takahashi, Lucarelli, Možič rally fans ahead of Men’s World Championship

Japan’s Ran Takahashi, Brazil’s Ricardo Lucarelli, and Slovenia’s Rok Možič have called on fans worldwide to show their support ahead of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines next month.

A crowd favorite in the Philippines from his Volleyball Nations League stints, Takahashi will lead world No. 5 Japan as they banner Asia’s hopes in the 32-nation tournament, which kicks off on September 12 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“We can’t wait to welcome volleyball fans from all over the world. Tickets are now on sale! See you at the venues,” said Takahashi.

The top volleyball players are coming to the Philippines for the World Championship. Please be at the Arena — I’m looking forward to seeing you there.”

Host nation Alas Pilipinas will open the tournament against Tunisia, followed by a first-of-its-kind opening ceremony featuring K-Pop group BOYNEXTDOOR and Filipina singer Karencitta.

Japan, meanwhile, begins its campaign on September 13 against Turkiye in Pool G, which also includes Canada and Libya. The event is organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation under president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, who also serves as president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

“I’m so happy because we’re going to the Philippines for the World Championship. See you soon!” Takahashi added.

On the other hand, Lucarelli and world No. 3 Brazil — fresh off a third-place finish in last month’s VNL — are eyeing the top spot this time after settling for bronze in the last World Championship.

“Philippines, get ready! The world’s biggest volleyball stage is coming soon,” said Lucarelli. “Feel the passion, feel the action, and take pride in this historic moment in volleyball. Mark your calendars for September 12 to 28!”

Slovenia, which placed fourth in both the previous World Championship and last month’s VNL, is also determined to finally land a podium finish. Team captain and offensive star Rok Možič rallied fans to join the action.

“I would like to invite you to buy tickets for the Men’s Volleyball World Championship. It will be in September in the Philippines. See you there,” said Možič.
