T1: Heading’s hot start not enough to lift Taichung past Taiwan Beer

Jordan Heading and Taichung Wagor could not make it two in a row against Taiwan Beer, falling 88-95 in the 2021-22 T1 League season, Sunday at National Taiwan University of Sport Gymnasium.

Heading got off to a hot start, scoring 14 points built on three treys in the first half. However, he was held down to just two points in the final 24 minutes of the game while also tallying three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block.

The Suns were up 68-61 heading into the final frame before the Hero Bears ramped it up, scoring 34 points to continue Taichung’s woes.

Diamond Stone posted a line of 26 points and 15 rebounds for the 5-3 Hero Bears.

Huang Jhen had 19 points built on five treys, while Chiang Yuan and Lee Chiwei added 14 points each. Chiang also had seven rebounds and eight assists.

Sani Sakakini – whom the Hero Bears played physically all game long – paced Taichung with 23 points and nine rebounds. Ting Shengju and Chen Wenhung chipped in 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The Taichung-Taiwan Beer series now sits tied at 1-all, since the Suns defeated the Herobears last December 25, 110-102.

Taichung looks to arrest its skid on Saturday when it faces Taiwan Beer anew.
