A total of 20 golfers will earn slots to the Superkit National Finals, with the winners advancing to the Grand Finals in China, as the Superkit Series Philippine Tour kicks off this week with more than 170 participants set to compete in the tournament organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.

The six-leg tournament begins this weekend, with 80 players seeing action on May 16 at Mimosa Mountain View and 90 participants competing on May 17 at Mimosa Acacia. The third leg is scheduled for June 7 at Summit Point for the girls’ division and Mt. Malarayat for the boys’ division.

The fourth leg will be held on June 27 at South Pacific for the 15-18 division and at Apo Golf in Davao for the 12-under category, while the fifth leg will also take place at Apo Golf on June 28.

Details for the sixth leg and the National Finals will be announced soon.

“This is Superkit’s support for junior golf in the Philippines. We all know that junior golf is booming not only in our country but around the world. Superkit is the No. 1 brand in the world,” said JGFP president Oliver Gan.

According to Gan, both leg winners and National Finals awardees will receive trophies and prizes. Boys’ and girls’ champions will each receive Superkit golf bags, while second placers will get a 5-wood club and third placers will receive umbrellas.

In the second season of the Superkit Series, competitions will be held in the following age-group categories for both boys and girls: 5-7, 8-9, 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18 years old. The 20 leg winners will compete in the National Finals, which will either be held at Pradera or Luisita, with the date still to be announced.

Gan added that there will also be an Order of Merit race, with each leg champion earning 100 points along with a $500 cash prize. The runner-up will receive $400, third place will earn $300, while fourth to sixth placers will each receive $150 to help offset rising oil prices.

The registration fee is P6,800 for the Mimosa leg, while the remaining legs will cost P5,800. The fee includes a Superkit cap and duffle bag.
