Steve Nash Enriquez will be out for one month due to a dislocated jaw, adding to the ongoing injury concerns at National University.
The third-year floor general has received the diagnosis of a dislocated jaw.
The 5-foot-9 Cebuano guard sustained this injury during the Bulldogs’ recent game against the UE Red Warriors last Wednesday.
During the third quarter of the game, around the four-minute mark, Josh Alcantara accidentally struck Enriquez’s face with his elbow, causing the injury.
Consequently, Enriquez was unable to return to the game.
On the following Thursday evening, the 20-year-old Bulldog was admitted to St. Luke’s Medical Center for surgery.
“In the most challenging times in our lives, God is always with you. Stay positive,” Enriquez posted on Instagram.
Coach Jeff Napa, in response to the situation, anticipates Enriquez’s absence for at least one month.
Nevertheless, the recovery process for this type of injury may pose nutritional challenges for Enriquez, particularly in the initial weeks, as he will find it difficult to consume food.
Enriquez plays a pivotal role as NU’s main sixth man, boasting an average of 7.5 points, 2.25 assists, and 2.13 rebounds per game.
Now, Kean Baclaan will assume the guard position’s responsibilities, with support from players like Reinhard Jumamoy and Patrick Yu.
“Nasa likod mo lang ako pre. Please pray for my brother’s successful operation,” said Baclaan.
