Ramil De Jesus may have prophesized his own resignation.
“Kapag ako nag-cocoach ng National team, laging nabubulilyaso. Palagi,” De Jesus said when he was first being considered to coach the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team.
Now, months later, numerous sources have said that the decorated mentor has stepped down from the position.
Multiple sources closely monitoring the situation have implied that politicking may be the main reason De Jesus stepped down.
In 2014, De Jesus was appointed head coach of the women’s national team by the now-defunct Philippine Volleyball Federation. The PVF, to whom De Jesus is reportedly loyal to, was eventually replaced by the current volleyball National Sports Association, Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc.
De Jesus had already conducted two separate tryouts for the 2018 national team, which was set to compete in the Asian Games and Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship.
After those tryouts, De Jesus was mum on details, indicating that he had yet to receive communication from the LVPI after the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
LVPI Sec Gen Ricky Palou was unaware of De Jesus’ resignation. However, he did confirm that LVPI will meet on June 8 to discuss several matters, including an election of its new members.
Tiebreaker Times contacted other LVPI officials, but has not received a reply as of press time.
