Shola Alvarez heads to Galeries

Former F2 Logistics outside spiker Shola Alvarez is heading to Galeries.

Alvarez is one of the few Cargo Movers left in free agency after Dawn Macandili, Ara Galang, and Aby Marano signed with Chery Tiggo; Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, and Kim Fajardo went to PLDT; Mars Alba was tapped by Choco Mucho; Jovelyn Fernandez was locked by Cignal; Myla Pablo and Joy Dacoron went back home to Petro Gazz; and Ivy Lacsina headed to Nxled signed with their respective new ball clubs.

The former NCAA MVP played mostly off the bench during her almost two-year stay with the Cargo Movers, serving as a backup to the likes of Galang, Pablo, and rookie Jolina Dela Cruz.

Alvarez is expected to play a major role for a Highrisers squad that finished 11th out of 12 teams after securing only one win during its debut in the Second All-Filipino Conference.

The ex-JRU star will join Galeries’ outside hitter rotation consisting of Roma Joy Doromal, Rapril Aguilar, Ysa Jimenez, Audrey Paran, and Graze Bombita.

Besides Alvarez, Galeries also signed opposite hitter France Ronquillo and setter Renee Mabilangan.

Ronquillo previously played for Chery Tiggo while Ronquillo was a reserve player for NU.2024-PVL-Galeries-Ronquillo-x-Alvarez-x-Mabilangan- Shola Alvarez heads to Galeries News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news
