It was dream start for the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons after winning their first two matches of the 2016 Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference.
Despite the victories, head coach Rod Palmero still feels that UP lacked consistency. Then, the Maroons lost two of their last three assignments, including a disheartening straight set loss to the Ateneo Blue Eagles Monday afternoon.
It seemed that the Blue Eagles already had their number even before entering the court third-year Isko admitted.
“Stressed ako kanina. Kita mo naman, simple lang galaw ng Ateneo. Kaya naman,” he added.
San Pascual feels that UP just needs to stop getting intimidated of the opponent in order to overcome them and win.
“Nakita nila Ateneo, down na sila. Pero kung titignan, kaya naman kung iisipin,” the UP junior said.
With an intact team from last season, UPÂ was expected to perform in this tournament. Moreover, the Fighting Maroons have won numerous titles in other off-season tournaments.
After the loss to Ateneo, however, the Fighting Maroons are in danger of being eliminated in the tournament but for San Pascual and the Maroons its a predicament that they have to face heads-on.
“We take this as experience, as a challenge,” the Sports Science major said.
“Gusto ko lagi to think positive.”
