San Miguel draws Abando, Anyang in EASL

The grouping for the inaugural East Asia Super League tournament has been set. And two familiar faces will meet in the group stages.

Reigning PBA Philippine Cup champion San Miguel will face Korean Basketball League runner-up Anyang KGC, Japan B.League second-placer Ryukyu, and P. League+ champs Taipei Fubon.

There will be a lot of bad blood in the very first game of the tournament on October 19.

The Beermen will head to Korea to face Anyang on opening day.

It can be recalled that Anyang recruited Rhenz Abando, a former Letran Knight. Letran is backed by the San Miguel Corporation.

In the other group, TNT will be slotted with KBL titlist Seoul SK, B.League king Utsunomiya, and China’s Bay Area.

The Tropang Giga will host Bay Area in the other half of the opening day twin bill.
