Roel Rosauro finds renewed inspiration as he expects second child

Filipino slugger Roel “Akiyama” Rosauro has even more reasons to end his slump in ONE Championship.

Rosauro shared that he and his wife Almira are expecting their second child. And because his family is getting bigger, it pushes him to be even better.

“I am overjoyed. My wife broke the news to me last week that another baby is on the way for us,” said Rosauro.

“I’ve always dreamed of a big family, and I’m happy that it’s starting to happen. This is another reason for me to work double-time.”

Rosauro, who is training to stay fit and ready while he waits for his next assignment, hopes to have a boy this time.

But regardless of the gender, Rosauro said that he is ready for another challenge, this time in fatherhood.

“I know it’s not going to be easy, but this is a blessing from God. I know that he won’t put us in this position if I don’t have the capacity to raise them well.”

Still hunting for an elusive win since joining the ONE Championship roster, Rosauro believes that now’s the time to shift his career to a different direction.

The former Filipino National Muay Thai silver medalist said that he is hungrier now, considering the circumstances.

“Maybe I can finally get the results that I truly want. He isn’t even here yet but I have big dreams for him and my daughter,” Rosauro shared.

“It won’t be easy but with perseverance and hard work, I can fulfill my dreams for my children, my family, and myself.”

Rosauro, who is now waiting for a call from the ONE Championship bosses for his next match, was last seen inside the ONE Circle in May 2018 when he squared off with Indonesian “Terminator” Sunoto at ONE: Unstoppable Dreams in Singapore.

However, he was dominated by the Indonesian in all three rounds en route to a unanimous decision loss.

Despite the recent results not favoring him, Rosauro is confident that the best is yet to come in his career.

“I know that I’ve had a lot of shortcomings in my previous bouts. That’s why I’ve been training really hard for the past year,” Rosauro shared.

“Especially now since there’s an upcoming blessing. I’ll pour everything in so I can succeed and provide for my family.”
