Roel Rosauro did not have an ideal return in the ONE Circle.
In his first bout in 20 months, the Yaw-Yan Ardigma Cebu standout bowed to debuting James Yang to open ONE: Revolution, suffering a second-round technical knockout stoppage (2:00), Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Looking to rack up a win streak going, Rosauro tried to trade shots with Yang early but succumbed to a takedown early in the opening round.
Yang put on a clinic on the ground, switching from side control and full mount with ease before securing Rosauro’s back.
Rosauro put up a brave fight, though, as he did not tap to a tight rear naked choke with two minutes left in the round. He even escaped what should have been a finish for a normal man.
But in the second round, a sweep by Yang once again grounded Rosauro. From there, the protege of Demetrious Johnson bombarded shots from the top that Rosauro had no answer for to stop the bout.
“It’s everything I visualized. I have no words for it,” said Yang, who is now 1-0 in his pro career.
Asked who he wants next, Yang said that he just wants to fight again as soon as possible.
“As soon as I can. I’m a bounty hunter. Put the prize up, I’m going to collect,” he said. “I’m just going to fight who they put in front of me.”
Rosauro dropped to 5-4, losing three of his last four bouts.
