Amid his busy schedule of training with the Fighting Maroons and studying at the University of the Philippines, Ricci Rivero was still able to pursue another goal: To be a movie star.
Rivero, who is serving a one-year residency before he can play in the UAAP, just finished shooting Horshoe Studios’ horror flick OTLUM.
“Timeout muna tayo sa basketball court to try out something new and challenging,” the 20-year-old Gilas Cadet said in a Youtube video.
In the film, the UAAP Season 80 Most Improved Player worked with vetran actors like Jerome Ponce, John Estrada, and Pen Medina. A neophyte in this field, Rivero was able to ease into a new role as his castmates were there for him to help him out.
“Sobrang supportive po ng production and cast sa akin, kaya po ‘yung kaba ko as a first time actor, naging napaka-memorable experience po para sa akin,” Rivero, who also trained with the Asiad-bound Gilas during the time of filming, told ABS-CBN News.
But before signing on, the young gun made sure that the shooting schedules will not get in the way of his duties for both UP and the Fighting Maroons.
“‘Yung Horsehoe assured us that they will adjust the shooting schedule, para wala po masagasaan na class and training schedule sa UP,” he added.
Now that filming is over, Rivero gets to go back to Diliman as he awaits the end of his residency.
