F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego lauded Ivy Lacsina’s composure and maturity in the Cargo Movers’ five-set triumph over Creamline in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Saturday night.
In front of 6,765 fans inside the Philsports Arena, the 23-year-old Lacsina was put to the test.
Tied at 14-all in the fifth frame, Lacsina – who already committed a crucial attack error several plays before – rotated back to the service line which put her in a pressure-packed situation.
The National University standout’s first attempt proved to be a successful one as she landed a heavy serve that resulted in a Kianna Dy rejection on Tots Carlos which put them at match-point advantage after recovering from a 12-14 deficit.
With the game on the line, Lacsina completed the job and converted a booming ace that completed the Cargo Movers’ dramatic come-from-behind, 23-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 16-14 triumph against the erstwhile unbeaten Creamline.
“She’s maturing.
“Ever since naman hindi naman siya yung type ng player na talagang pang-ace pero now she’s maturing, she’s growing up into a lady na kaya ng dalhin yung sarili niya at kaya niya na ring mag-dala ng team,” said Diego, who handled Lacsina before at Nazareth School of National University.
Team captain Aby Marano lauded Lacsina as well for stepping up to her challenge and finishing the game from the service line.
“Actually, nung pumasok ako sabi ko ako na, sabi ko kay Ivy, ‘ipasok mo lang yung service mo’ tapos ang dumidipensa sa harap ako, si Kianna [Dy], saka si Ara [Galang],” said Marano, who finished with 14 points in the win.
“Ang nasa utak lang namin ni Ara, sabi namin kay Ivy, sa pinakaimportanteng moment mag-ace ka tapos nadeliver naman.”
Lacsina ended up with seven points which includes two aces in the victory that helped F2 Logistics bounce back from its loss against Chery Tiggo.
The Cargo Movers climbed up in the standings and tied the Cool Smashers at the second spot with identical 3-1 win-loss standings.
