RODRRIGUEZ, RIZAL – PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort couldn’t hide his excitement as Savannah Davison continued to reap the rewards of her hard work and dedication following her career-best performance on Saturday night.
Davison exploded for a personal-best 36 points, leading the High Speed Hitters to a crucial 26-28, 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 triumph over Chery Tiggo in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at Ynares Center Montalban here.
Ricafort praised Davison’s growth, noting that her standout performance reflects the effort she has put in since joining the team in 2023.
“‘Yun naman ‘yung bunga ng hard work niya mula nung dumating siya dito, at yun rin ‘yung reminder sa amin sa kung ano ang tinatrabaho namin,” Ricafort said of Davison, who has won two championships and one MVP award with PLDT since her arrival.
“So, ‘yun, happy kami na lumalabas yung pinagihirapan and ‘yun nga, sa laro ngayon, siya’ yung talagang nag-deliver.”
For Davison, however, the team’s victory mattered far more than her personal numbers.
The 26-year-old Fil-Canadian outside spiker admitted she wasn’t even keeping track of her point total, focusing instead on helping PLDT create gaps and secure the win against a Chery Tiggo side desperate for a victory.
Davison finished with a triple-double, recording 33 attacks, two aces, and one block, along with 10 excellent digs and 14 excellent receptions.
“Honestly, it’s hard because I’m just happy that we won. I honestly wasn’t keeping track of how many points I was scoring. I was just happy that we were able to create gaps and win the last three sets comfortably with a little bit of points between us,” she said.
“Like I said, I’m just happy with the win.”
While downplaying her personal achievement, what made her career performance truly special was the presence of her mother, Barbara, who had just returned from a trip to Tokyo, Japan, before heading back to Canada.
“I actually just got asked that question. I’m just glad that she was here for it. I know that she’s always in my mind, in my heart, I’m just glad that she’s here physically,” Davison said.
“I feel super comfortable playing in front of her. It doesn’t change much, she has been there throughout my whole career. Like I said, I’m just glad to have her here and be present for this game.”
