PVL: KKD, F2 outlast Cignal in marathon 4-setter, take share of lead

F2 Logistics fended off Cignal, 25-20, 30-28, 23-25, 25-22, for its second win in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The Cargo Movers relied on Kianna Dy, who scored 23 points with 20 attacks and three blocks, to help her team secure the second spot in Group B with a 2-0 record.

Also making a significant impact in the tight four-set match was ace libero Dawn Macandili, who recorded a remarkable 48 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions to lead F2 Logistics’ floor defense.

“We got a lot to learn. A win is a win, we are happy about it but we have to learn from this. Marami pa kaming kailangang ayusin. Marami pa kaming dapat i-adjust,” said Cargo Movers head coach Regine Diego.

“So we can’t stop because it’s not done yet. It’s just the second game. Marami pa kaming kailangan i-go through,” she added.

With the HD Spikers threatening to force a fifth set, Ivy Lacsina delivered back-to-back hits to extend F2 Logistics’ one-point advantage to a 24-22 lead in the fourth set.

Glaudine Troncoso scored with a crosscourt hit to keep Cignal in the game, but Majoy Baron blocked Rachel Daquis at the net to thwart the HD Spikers’ comeback attempt and secure the win for the Cargo Movers.

Lacsina finished with 13 points, while Baron and Aby Maraño added nine and eight points, respectively.

On the other hand, Ces Molina tallied 21 points and 18 digs in a losing effort as Cignal dropped to a 1-1 record to start the tournament.
