The Philippines is ready to show the world its love and passion for volleyball.
The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) formally announced the country’s hosting of the 2025 Men’s Volleyball World Championship in front of the same fans that made the event possible at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday, during the first day of Week 3 of the 2024 Men’s Volleyball Nations League.
The country has successfully staged the VNL for the last two years, with the first year hosting both the men’s and women’s competitions and a huge turnout from highly passionate Filipino supporters.
So it was an easy decision for the FIVB to approve the resilient Filipino bid.
“We’re bringing the event to the Philippines because of your amazing Filipino hospitality and, of course, the world’s best volleyball fans are right here in the Philippines,” said Finn Taylor, CEO of Volleyball World.
“We’ll be back next year, and we invite everyone to attend what will be the best World Championships ever.”
The championships are scheduled to be played at the same Pasay venue along with Quezon City’s SMART Araneta Coliseum from September 12 to 28.
The 2025 Worlds will be the first time the country will host the prestigious tournament, and it is an opportune time as this edition will also be the first to have 32 teams vying for the cup, up from the previous 24.
Presidential son Vinny Marcos, co-chair of the Local Organizing Committee, was pleased to accept the challenge from the FIVB, saying, “We are very happy to have everyone in the international community on board with us. And as you all know of volleyball’s increasing popularity, we all can’t wait for next year.”
