AUCKLAND — A-League Men’s side Perth Glory announced on Thursday that it has hired former Philippine Women’s National Football Team coach, Alen Stajcic.
Stajcic will be joined by long-time assistant Nahuel Arrarte and analyst Stevan Antonic.
“I believe an incredible opportunity now exists to re-establish Glory as one of the giants of Australian football, and that vision is one shared by everyone at the club,” he said.
“I take great confidence from the groundwork that has been put in over the last year to set the club back on the path to success and am excited to help continue that process.”
This development marks the return of Stajcic to the professional game for the first time since his stint with the Central Coast Mariners from 2019 to 2021.
The 49-year-old mentor took Central Coast to the FFA Cup semifinals during the 2019-2020 season and the 2020-2021 A-League finals.
Stajcic is coming off a historic 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign with the Philippine Women’s National Football Team — the highlight of which was a memorable 1-0 victory over the host nation, New Zealand, in Wellington.
“Perth has such a rich history in football and a rich history in developing players,” said Stajcic.
“It is our vision to once again give the Perth football community a team and a club that they can be truly proud of.”
