Amiel Acido etched his name in the annals of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA as he clinched the coveted Most Valuable Player crown in the NCAA Season 99 Juniors Basketball Tournament.
Steering the Altas to its maiden finals appearance, the 19-year-old all-around forward not only broke barriers but also shattered records, marking a significant milestone for his team.
Acido’s unparalleled performance throughout the season propelled him to the summit of individual excellence, boasting an impressive player average value (PAV) of 57.22.
Averaging 17.67 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.11 assists, and 0.67 steals per game during the elimination round, Acido’s stellar contributions were instrumental in Perpetual’s journey to the Finals.
Alongside teammates Lebron Jhames Daep and Mark Gojo Cruz, who exhibited stellar performances of their own with PAVs of 48.88 and 47.11, respectively, Acido earned a well-deserved spot in the Mythical Five lineup.
Joining Acido, Daep, and Gojo Cruz in the Mythical Five were standout players George Diamante of Letran and EJ Castilo of Emilio Aguinaldo College.
Diamante and EJ Castilo boastied PAVs of 48.55 and 44.44, respectively.
Gojo Cruz’s outstanding debut earned him the Rookie of the Year title.
Meanwhile, Castillo’s remarkable improvement from 84th to fifth place in Season 99 earned him the distinction of Most Improved Player.
The league also recognized defensive prowess, with Jose Rizal University’s Paul Enal clinching his second consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award.
Enal’s tenacity on the court, exemplified by his impressive stat line of 85 rebounds, 10 blocks, and four steals, anchored the Defensive Team alongside stalwarts like Martin Pineda, Diamante, Acido, and Daep.
On the other hand, Lyceum of the Philippines University received the Sportsmanship Award.
